SITUATION AT THE PORT OF LE HAVRE
The congestion at the Le Havre TNMSC terminal makes it difficult to manage appointments and leads to an average waiting time of between 4 and 6 hours to load or unload road carriers.
In view of the situation, a surcharge of about 150€ is to be applied for entries and exits at the terminal. This surcharge will be applied to all new reservations as of today.
There are several reasons for this situation:
- Global increase of volumes leaving Le Havre
- Recurrent delays of ships and accumulation of several ships at the quay which occupy almost all the TNMSC straddle carriers
- Recent acquisition of new equipment still in the process of being programmed
- Reinforcement of Le Havre's position as a transshipment platform by certain companies to the detriment of Antwerp. More movements are therefore operated
In addition to this, a decision has been taken to hold an intermittent strike for an as yet undetermined period. This strike will take place in the form of occasional stoppages, generally at the end of the morning.
The difficulties encountered at the port of Le Havre are likely to last several months.
